Hot air balloon

This quilt will be donated to a local library  as one of their prizes for their summer reading program. 30 of us were given 1/2 yard of the yellow material (words on it). With that material we were asked to create a quilt that portrayed some type of movement that measured about 40 x 65.  My hot air balloon material was perfect for this project. In each of the balloon rows I "puffed"  3 of the balloons as you can see from the picture on the right.
In order to "puff" the balloons, I attached a small piece of white material on the back of the balloon and hand sewed around the outside of the balloon. On the back I made a slit  in the white material and stuffed the balloon with poly fill and then hand sewed the slit closed.

Promotion to Tech Sergeant

Congratulations to my daughter on her Promotion to Tech Sergeant in the Air Force. I had purchased this kit with her in mind.  As soon as I found out she was selected for promotion I started this quilt.
I tried something different by quilting stars in the border area.

Patriotic Quilt

This Patriotic quilt was the result of a year long Block of the Month with my Quilting group. Each month a different person demonstrated a block.  Some of the blocks I didn't really care for and didn't do whereas one I really liked and made 2 of them and some I added because I simply liked them.

This Patriotic quilt will be given to my niece's husband who is a Marine as a thank you for his service to our country... but first will be displayed in our local quilt show.
