Pop Stars Mystery quilt

I belong to an online quilt group which provides the instructions for a Mystery quilt. Each month we receive the instructions for a new set of blocks. This was for 2015. You have the option of purchasing the exact same fabric as the designer used but I had some pieces that were similar. I like the scrappy border and using yellow for the binding.
I enjoyed quilting this myself. This quilt is for my sister's birthday present.

Quilt from Baby Clothes

This is my "James" quilt named after a great nephew.  My niece sent me shirts, sleepers, hats, bibs etc that he wore his first months. I had fun deciding how to incorporate all the different items. His sleepers had cute faces on the feet some of which I included, also. I used receiving blankets for the backing and puffy polyester batting tied with embroidery floss. Most blocks were finished 5 1/2". Some of the blocks needed to be pieced to make them the needed size.
It was a fun, learning experience.

Splendid Sampler - Block 8-12 and 2 Bonus Blocks

Each Sunday and Thursday I eagerly await the release of the next block. The past few weeks we were given some Bonus blocks, also. My precision is improving.  My embroidery needs work but I was very happy with the finished block. I purchased some felted wool at our local quilt show to use in some of the applique. I love doing the button hole stitch with wool applique. Instead of using pearl cotton I used embroidery floss instead.

Even though I will continue to receive blocks until February 17, 2017, I am already wondering how I will put it together. Right now I am thinking a 1" sashing in a light green or light lavender.

Quilt from Baby Clothes

My niece gave me her son's baby clothes and entrusted them to me to make a quilt out of them. These are the blocks I have so far. I am hand sewing the feet from the sleepers to give the quilt a 3 dimensional feel.  I haven't decided what to do with the camo and penguin hat or the vest? Any ideas?

Blocks 1-7 Splendid Sampler

Splendid Sampler

The Splendid Sampler is a year long quilt along which began February 14. Each week two 6″ block tutorials are posted at Splendid Sampler
84 designers are providing the 100 blocks. Each Sunday and Thursday I look forward to the new block. Along with the block design we can visit the designer's website for additional ideas and tips.
I am using shades of purple, green, a little yellow and whites for my background material.

Colorado Row by Row

While visiting my daughter in Colorado last July we stopped at 6 quilt shops that were participating in the Row by Row experience. https://www.rowbyrowexperience.com   Each shop offered a free 9" x 36" pattern. Purchasing the fabric kit to make the "row" was optional. I haven't done a lot of applique but after working on this quilt,  I feel a bit more confident.  The top row displays snow flakes, the second row shows mountains with snow, the third row depicts water (which was the theme for this  year's Row by Row experience) the fourth row is a variation of the Colorado state flag, the fifth row depicts mountains and the sixth displays flowers with thunder, cloud and sunshine.  My long arm quilter, Rhonda, did an awesome job!

This will be a gift for my daughter's birthday, but first it will be displayed at our local quilt show in a few weeks.

I think this will be a wonderful keepsake for my daughter not only of Colorado  but as well as our time together visiting 6 quilt shops in just a few days.
