Items I found in my Dropbox folder

Recently I cleaned my Dropbox, deleting and putting files into folders. I found a number of pictures of my creations. 

 I made this a few years ago for my youngest niece. The cow pillow was made to go with a quilt I made the previous year. I liked the mitten pattern. I really enjoy making mittens but it is easier if you have the length of the hand rather than guessing.  

This is a 10 minute table runner or so I have been told. It is only to take 10 minutes to make. I made this for my son. I wonder if ever used it?

  I made this baby quilt for a niece's boy. The back had blue and white gingham and the front has Bernstein bears. It is tied with embroidery floss. I used the Pillowcase method to bind the quilt or otherwise known as "birthing a quilt." This is my favorite method of making a baby quilt especially if the top border has no seams. I used 42" wide material and 1 1/2 yard long material. That is big enough for a young child to cover up and still drag around. I want my baby quilts to be used and abused. I don't want them to sit on a shelf. I hope it is used for making forts, to snuggle watching their favorite tv show or listening to their favorite book.

Machine Embroidery

This quilt was made in a year long Free Block of the Month through Craftsy.com. I highlighted 2 pictures that included a design from my Embroidery machine (left) which showcases the heart design machine quilting I had my quilter do and the Tumbling pattern  (right) which I thought was one of the most difficult but prettiest. The top was all  sewn together the beginning of 2014.but I didn't have it machine quilted until March of 2016 and finally finished the binding.  This quilt is mine, all mine.

I included blocks done with my 4" hoop embroidery machine. I hadn't used it in 2 years. It does a really nice job. The close ups are of some of my favorite blocks.

Sewing machine mat

This is a quilted sewing machine mat that I made for a Secret Sister swap. We were to make something to help us be organized. The mat sits under the sewing machine and has pockets to fit treasures: thread, scissors, bobbins or whatever you may want close at hand while sewing. My secret sister loved collecting vintage sewing machines so I thought this fabric with the treadle machine would be perfect.

Fabric Purse

While visiting my daughter last year in Colorado we stopped at numerous quilt shops to get the "Row" for the Row by Row Experience. At one of the quilting shops I saw this neat purse pattern and awesome fabric. I used a double sided fusible, In-R Form Plus, in the bottom to make the bag stand up better. The inside lining and pockets are the same material as the handle.
My Mom liked my bag so much that she asked me to make her with some fabric she had.The flap on hers has a solid color fabric and has her initials professionally embroidered.

 

Blocks 13- 26 Splendid Sampler

I continue to enjoy the Splendid Sampler. A few of these blocks are ones I designed myself or "bonus" blocks. Bonus blocks are blocks that are given in addition to the ones we get on Sunday and Thursday.  We have been given some paper pieced blocks which I haven't tried yet, maybe sometime. The embroidery blocks take a while but are so pretty when complete. Sometimes the easiest blocks I wind up re"sewing." I have included wool in some of my appliques (derby hat).  The Splendid Sampler continues until February 17, 2017.
